About Institute: The Institute of Gandhian Studies was established at Wardha in 1987. The main objectives of the Institute are to offer short term and long term courses of study in Gandhian thought, provide facilities for training in Gandhian constructive and social work, undertake and promote research in the various aspects of Gandhian thought and action, conduct national and international seminars, provide counselling and evaluation services to centres of field work and undertake publications.

About Course: Every year, the Institute offers a short term course of study in Gandhian thought and action for University Students in December. This Camp provides a unique opportunity to make an intensive study of the economic, political, social and educational philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, the philosophy of Satyagraha and constructive work, and the movements and struggles in India and abroad that have drawn inspiration from Gandhiji. This is done primarily through talks given by eminent academicians and outstanding leaders of the Gandhian movement.

In addition to visiting faculties, the resident faculty members of the Institute also provide adequate academic support. Students who attended the camp last year were mostly Post Graduate Students from different Universities (including Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies) and they found the camp extremely useful.

Sixty students selected from different Universities of India will be admitted to the Camp. The Camp will be conducted on the Institute's Campus at Gopuri, Wardha, close to the Gitai Mandir and Viswa Shanti Stupa. The campers will lead the simple life of an Ashram, attend the course of study and also visit centres of Gandhian constructive work in and around Wardha during the camp.Prayer, Yoga classes, community work, group discussion, cultural events are some of the unique features of the camp. Discussions and interactions in the camp will be in English/ Hindi.
